My name is Sana Desai and I am a Product Designer based in Los Angeles.
I am currently working at Microsoft leading the design for native Windows apps such as Camera App and Notepad with over 50M user. Also, working as the lead product designer for PWA(Progressive Web Applications) Builder, an open-source platform designed for developers to build, analyze, and package their web applications for Windows, Android, or Apple stores.
Although born in the United States, I grew up in Gujarat, India, where I was exposed to vibrant sounds and colors that formed my initial curiosity about the design world. I graduated from ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena with a degree in Graphic Design that gave me a strong understanding of typography and form. I use human-centered design methods and processes to bridge the gap between humans and digital products by keeping a user-first approach. The last 4 years have taken me to SaaS, B2B, B2C, and digital marketing companies where my work has lived at the intersection of strategy, systems thinking, and user experience design.
At Microsoft, I've grown in communicating product strategy to stakeholders and presenting to leadership for investing more resources into optimizing PWABuilder. I have also mentored junior designers and have experience working independently and well as collaboratively. Outside of Microsoft, I also have 4 years of e-commerce experience that I am extremely passionate about.
Outside of work, I enjoy going to rock concerts and getting inspired by music daily. I love the outdoors and never miss a chance to detox by listening to the wondrous sounds of nature and simply observing it. I like to call myself a global citizen always striving to make the world a better place and for my designs and actions to have a social impact.
